Three years ago, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Steve James spent the 2015-2016 school year documenting the lives of a dozen OPRF students. His goal, he said, was to examine "race and equity and their impact on the quest for racial parity at Oak Park and River Forest High School." The 10-week documentary series debuts on the Starz network on Sunday, Aug. 26, at 9:00 p.m. CST.
Participant Media, a film and tv production company focused on socially conscious content, is launching a civic engagement and educational outreach campaign around the series. The goal is to inspire national dialogue and action around the issues of race and equity highlighted in America to Me.
