SCHOOL CREST AND MOTTO:

THOSE THINGS THAT ARE BEST

The symbols of the crest stand for the name of the school: the acorn and oak leaves for Oak, the three trees for Park, the wavy lines for River, and the trees again for Forest. Thus, they represent Oak Park and River Forest.

The words on the crest, Ta'Garista (ΤΑ Γ'ΑΡΙΣΤΑ), are in the Greek language. In English, they are translated to mean “The best,” and correlates to the school motto: "Those Things That Are Best." The motto, adopted in 1908, means that each student, teacher, and staff member at OPRF should strive for high ideals in all their pursuits.

The crest has been registered for copyright and cannot be used except for official school business. It was originally designed by Mr. Lee M. Watson, a former manual arts teacher, and was first used in 1908.
